1) ḥōm lekteb ḫaṭ // we-l-ʾōnī rsūlI want to write a line // and hire a messenger,
2) kelyēd yeǧhīm // w-šīhem dḫūl[To go] with those who travel // and have an entry visa.
3) w-hoh dfōn heh // meṣrūfeh w-nawlI’ll pay him for his expenses // and the cost of shipping
4) w-zōyed hnī // hel źaybeṭ ḳbūlAnd even more from me // since whatever he takes is acceptable.
5) ʾār hoh meśśəġeyb // l-ādēd ḏe-ḥlūlI’ve been in turmoil // day after day,
6) w-aġarbes lā // šnēt we-ḏhūlI haven’t known // sleep or a moment of peace
7) w-hessī ʾār bīs // men hēl teḥlūlSince my feelings are with her // wherever she has settled.
8) ʾān ḳalb w-hēd // w-sāten ġfūlEven if my heart quiets down // and forgets for a moment,
9) ʾayenten ḳhēd // we-dmā hmīlūlMy eyes burn with insomnia // and tears pour down.
